On the way to Damascus, VA

Just a quick update - right now we are at Kincora (Hampton, TN) and about two days away from Damascus, VA - which we’ve been told is one of the best trail towns on the entire AT. I was able to stop into a library to get an update done and to check some email but haven’t had a chance to upload any photos since Erwin. All is well and our original plan of getting to Damascus by Tuesday was changed when we awoke to a heavy rain that wasn’t planning on letting up until tomorrow. We’ll leave tomorrow morning and do about 20 miles and then follow that up with another 20 mile day to be in Damascus for a couple days and enjoy the town. All is well and our bodies have been holding up quite well. My shins are still a bit grumpy and disagree with me when I hike too fast or too many miles but so long as I take it slow, I’ll be alright. Cheers!

Erwin, Tennessee

Just a quick update…we arrived in Erwin, Tennessee yesterday afternoon and are doing well. We are about one week away from the Virginia border so we should be there early next week. I have developed some sort of shin splint in my left leg that may make me start slowing my days down. Please check out the pictures and let me know your thoughts. I uploaded many more last night and was able to set up the gallery for all of the sets of photos so that they are easier to see. I hope you enjoy them.

Hartford!

I’m in Hartford…Tennessee, fresh out of the Smoky Mountains. We finished it in 5 days and a short morning and are staying at Standing Bear Farm and they are treating us well. I am updating from a 56k modem so no pictures will be put up until I can find a faster connection. I have about 215 more pictures taken since my last update. If you want to check them out, here’s the link again.

AT ‘06

Eliot was nice enough to put a script down to arrange the pictures in a slideshow format. Thanks Eliot!

Oh…and no bear sightings for me as of yet, but Ben thinks he may have…
